One thing that i really like in London is the parks! They are really well kept and they are not usually crowded. From Westminster Bridge to here is only 5 minute walk and you can sit down and breath a little.
This small park is right next to the Houses of Parliament. It's definitely worth a small detour if visiting the Parliament if only to see the 3 monuments in the gardens. There's one to Emmeline Parkhurst, British political activist and leader of the British suffragette movement; The Burghers of Calais, commemorating the citizens who offered themselves up as hostages to lift a year long siege of their city; The Buxton Memorial to Thomas Fowell Buxton for his work in the abolition of slavery. The garden is well maintained, has great views of the Houses of Parliament, the River Thames, Waterloo Bridge and Westminster Bridge. There's paved walkways to stroll all around the park as well as a children's play area at the Waterloo Bridge end of the park, which also leads up some stairs to the northern end of the bridge.
Unusual park right next to river and houses of parliament. Has quite a few benches, great to sunbathe or picnic in the summer, good for a walk or a quick sit down in winter.
When I was a child, I often go here to play with my friends. I remeber this site with love...
A hidden oasis of greenery next door to all of London's tourist sites with beautiful views across the river and up to the Houses of Parliament. Well worth wandering around the various statues and monuments in this park which highlight some of the lesser known greats of English history.
